Went to Cat Empire with Pete G last night. Fantastic.
Every time i see bands live I always tell myself I should see more live music. And i very nearly didn't fork out to see Cat Empire, thankfully Aly at work made the exec decision to go. Very glad. Having not seen the Cat Empire before I was a little unsure what to expect, but having heard good things there was a good chance I'd hype it up and it'd disappoint. It didn't. And I'd say (having listened to them most of monday and tuesday and then a debrief sesh today at work while doing tenders) that there cd's don't do them justice. The way they were able to play to the crowd was great. A 4 minute guitar solo by a guest musician after an indian scitar, Harry beat boxing etc was great.
So what got play time? A few I didnt know, then greats from Two Shoes and their self-titled albumn like How to explain, Sly, Two Shoes, Someday, and finishing off with Chariot, then after about 3 minutes of cheering, topped it off with the wine song and Hello Hello with a 5 minute drum solo.
The first time being to the Tivoli, I'm a fan. We went upstairs to watch the supporting band (
Tortured Soul), who were really good (I had my doubts at first, but they really got everyone going and had great crowd presence. Quite funky. Anyway, so upstairs was a good place to hangout pre-main show, then down into the crowds... We were about 4-5m from the stage which was cool. Anyway, all in all a tops night. And for those of you who wanted to see what was missed (and encourage you to go next time)
