26th of January is Australia Day, which means above all, a long weekend. And heaps of Aussie pride (when not hijacked and used as a front for stupidity or racists). So it was an easy call when the option of a houseboat with mates came up.
The boat was a grand ol' ship with 10 berth's which suited the 9+short-term guests just fine. While the fact that it was shaped like a brick made speedy getaways challenging, the fact that one of the motors stopped working after the first day made it impossible. So we put-put-putted around the Gold Coast Broadwater, stopping off at wavebreak island, tipplers resort and near the spit, with a stopover at the Grand Hotel.
Was great hanging out with my mates, all from high school. Since before I moved to Sydney, and now live in Brisbane, I only see them once every 6-8weeks, and a couple of them I hadn't seen in almost 2 years!
Also, Good news - Sunday after the boat, I spent most of the day at home and Nephew Brett's Colourful box is still used and enjoyed as the best toy box ever.
After the event, I think I'll stay away from snags on a bbq and beer for a while. And sunburn is just about gone now - had done so well with sunscreen until Saturday afternoon...
BBQ's, Beers, Boys. Was a great time.
